Now head below the break for the answers as well as some solvers' comments!
- CIDE
R= ICED (R) - PRI
ED = DRIP (E) - ABSEN
T= BEANS (T) - AMORA
L= AROMA (L) PASTOR = ROAST (P)- TREF
OIL = FILTER (O) - AIRB
OATS = BARISTA (O) - DUR
ANGOS = GROUNDS (A) - PRO
CESSES = ESPRESSO (C) - ACH
ROMATIC = MACCHIATO (R)
The deleted letters unscramble to spell out PERCOLATOR
Solver Kevin Orfield admitted that "I completely missed that the category was given and spent the first couple minutes trying to figure out what it was, but most of my difficulty came from the fact that I don't drink the stuff. Some of the anagrams I came up with before the correct answer [included] PLACE ROTOR, CORPORATE L, and COAL PORTER (I really like this pun, but it had nothing to do with coffee)"
Solver Sam Levitin also struggled, but not in an area you would expect: "It's funny; the hardest word for me was anagramming DICE after removing the R [from CIDER]. I needed nutrimatic."
