ANSWERS: Moving Staircases 8

It's been almost two weeks since "Moving Staircases 8" was posted on this blog, and eight people since then have successfully solved it, as you can see below:

Now head below the break for the answers! No solver comments this time, so instead, I've included a very brief tale on where the FINAL ANSWER came from!

The hidden word, highlighted above in blue, is TOMBOY

This was a weird one to make; normally, I start with filling in the FINAL ANSWER when making one of these puzzles, but for this one, I actually started with PALTROW/PALTRY, and then tried to think of a FINAL ANSWER that ended with "OY". I tried COWBOY and CONVOY, but neither of those went anywhere, so I had to settle with TOMBOY instead. Okay, after I saw what I just typed out, I'll admit that that wasn't much of a "tale", but I had to put something down here...

WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT, THEN?

Every week on Monday, I post a new puzzle for you guys to solve. Just send me the FINAL ANSWER to each puzzle within two weeks of its posting via email (redhead64@chartermi.net or itsredhead64@gmail.com) and if it's right, you'll win bragging rights and a place on the solvers list. Sometimes, I might even give away some prizes on some puzzles! Starting with puzzle #329, you can even ask for as many hints as you want from me, but you'll get a mark noting that you did so next to your name on the solvers' list.

From May 2015 until the very end of March 2021, I had made use of a "hint star" system: Each potential solver starts out with four "hint stars" that will go next to their name on the solvers list, and if you would like help on solving the puzzle (be it an alternate clue or a nudge towards a right answer or something like that), you can email me using the same email addresses that you use to send me the FINAL ANSWER, and I'll provide you with a hint as quickly as I can, but at the expense of one of those stars. So someone who solved it after two hints will get two stars next to their name, while someone who solved it with no hints gets all four stars next to their name when I post the solvers list.

DOs and DON'Ts

DO commission me for puzzles using PayPal, but keep in mind that I won't accept payment of any sort until I complete the puzzle (it ain't right to get paid for something you never finished, after all), and I reserve the right to reject commissions if I find the concept particularly objectionable (so nothing politically charged, for example)
DO print out the puzzles to solve on paper OR copy-and-paste them to an image editing program and solve them there
DO e-mail me at either redhead64@chartermi.net OR itsredhead64@gmail.com to send your answers, though I'm more likely to check the former, and DO make sure you put something relevant in the title, or else it might not get read
DO feel free to look up the answers to some of the harder clues if you don't know them, especially if they're particularly obscure or obtuse. Just DON'T tell me that you actually did that, as I'd rather have no way of knowing if you "cheated" or not
DON'T just give out the answer to any of the clues OR even the final solution in the comments, but DO try to keep them spoiler-free
DON'T claim these puzzles as your own OR monetize them; I've worked hard on these!
And most importantly, DO have fun with these puzzles! If you like them, DO share them with your friends AND link to this blog in the process
