PUZZLE #236: PixelSweeper 2

PUZZLE #236
PIXELSWEEPER 2

My birthday is tomorrow, and just like last year around this time, I'm going to give you guys a present in the form of a picture logic puzzle! Not only that, but if you read yesterday's post, I'm also going to post a video of me appearing on a game show from ten years ago this Sunday! Yep, I'm finally gonna reveal what I look like in real life, so look forward to that! Anyway, here are the directions to this type of puzzle in case you don't remember:

This hybrid of Minesweeper and a Picross puzzle consists of a grid with multiple numbers inside that will eventually turn into a picture. Each number tells how many of the squares surrounding it (as well as the numbered square itself) should be shaded in. For example, a square marked with a "9" should be shaded in, and so should the eight squares around it. If you're stumped or don't know what to do next, you can always get some tips, tricks and techniques through this link.

The FINAL ANSWER for this puzzle is the name of an '80s arcade game which is seven letters long

Once you believe you've figured out the FINAL ANSWER, send it to either redhead64@chartermi.net or itsredhead64@gmail.com (though I'm more likely to check the second one) and I'll put your name on a solvers list once I post the answers in about two weeks. You can also use those email addresses to give me some comments and feedback (or get a hint from me in exchange for a "hint star", more details for that are on the sidebar to the right) or send me the answer to last week's puzzle, if you haven't already figured it out. If you have a printer and want to solve this puzzle on paper, just head below the break for two versions you can print out: a .PNG and a link to a .PDF!

(POSTCARD being one of the words used in the first grid)

Before we get to the answers to "Gryptics 2" from two weeks ago, I should tell you about something special that I'm gonna do soon. You see, my birthday's in a couple days, and to celebrate it, I'm going to post my very first YouTube video! More specifically, it'll be an episode of a game show that I appeared on ten years ago! I'll post the video in question in next week's answers post, so look forward to that! In the meantime, here are a bunch of people that have solved my second pair of Gryptics:

PUZZLE #235: Pent Words 13

PUZZLE #235
PENT WORDS 13

For this puzzle, you must divide the grid into pentominoes (they’re sorta like Tetris pieces, except they’re areas made up of five squares each) and put a letter in each cell. The rows, reading from left to right, will contain the words hinted at by the ACROSS clues. The letters in the pentominoes, reading left to right beginning with the top row, will form the words hinted at by the PENTOMINOES clues; these clues are presented in no particular order. (In the example above, the rows spell out CHINS, PARTY, and ANKLE, and the pentominoes spell out the words CHINA, STYLE, and PRANK.) Use the across answers to figure out where the pentominoes go.

Once you're done, combine the two unclued pentominoes to get this week's FINAL ANSWER: A two-word phrase

1) Fill completely
    Yak, for one
2) Paper towel brand whose mascot is a buff man in flannel

PUZZLE #233: Eat Your Words 4

PUZZLE #233
EAT YOUR WORDS 4

For example, the word BIT can eat the word AND to form BANDIT. All of the new words are entered into the grid in the order of the Numbered Words, and the Eaten Words are in no particular order.

Once all of the new words have been placed, the letters in the highlighted third column will spell out two more words. Insert one of the column's new words into the other to get the FINAL ANSWER: The name of a cable TV series
