ANSWERS: Chain Reaction: Branching Out

It's been almost two weeks since I've posted "Chain Reaction: Branching Out", and since then, eight of you have managed to successfully solve it, as you can see in the list below:
  • Grant Fikes ****
  • Sam Levitin ****
  • Yossi Fendel ****
  • Eric Maddy ****
  • Mom ****
  • Debbie Benford ****
  • Giovanni Pagano ****
  • Lynn Sweeney ****
Now just head below the break for the answers and some solver comments!

Some of your answers' placements may vary

The word in the pink box is PAINTED

Rose Marie as seen on The Hollywood Squares

Solver Grant Fikes "looked up PAINTED LADY and PAINTED TURTLE on a lark, and was surprised those are things. Otherwise, no outside resources were used in solving the puzzle to the extent that this answer could be found."

Solver Sam Levitin said that this was a "Very enjoyable puzzle. Vaguely similar puzzles have appeared at MIT Mystery Hunt that cause your brain to explode."

Solver Eric Maddy "had LIBERTY -> ISLAND for a while, which screwed me up. But -- process of elimination and all, it all fell into place."

Turns out even the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie used product placement!
